In September alone, 74 people have died from the mosquito-borne disease

Bangladesh has recorded seven more dengue deaths in a 24-hour count, alongside 1,753 hospitalisations across the country.
The government’s death toll has now reached 171, including 74 deaths in September -- the highest monthly figure so far this year.
According to Wednesday’s Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) bulletin, the Khulna Division recorded the highest number of fatalities in the 24 hours to 8am on Tuesday, with three deaths.
One death each was reported in Chattogram, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, and Rangpur divisions.
During the period, 175 patients were admitted to hospitals in Dhaka North and 174 in Dhaka South.
Outside the two city corporations, 394 were admitted elsewhere in the capital.
The figures for other divisions were 186 in Barishal, 177 in Chattogram, 349 in Khulna, 83 in Mymensingh, 153 in Rajshahi, 53 in Rangpur, and nine in Sylhet.
Another 1,638 patients were discharged in the same 24-hour period.
This year, 56,916 dengue patients have been hospitalised and 52,579 discharged.
The health directorate has tracked dengue hospitalisations and deaths since 2000.
In 2023, 321,179 patients were hospitalised and 1,705 died -- the highest figures recorded. Last year, more than 400 died and about 102,000 were diagnosed.
