BNP Standing Committee member Mirza Abbas has travelled to Malaysia for a follow-up medical check-up.
He left Shahjalal International Airport on a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight at 12:50pm on Wednesday, according to Mizanur Rahman Sohel, his personal assistant.
“Sir has left for Malaysia for a follow-up medical check-up. His wife Afroza Abbas and son Mirza Yasir Abbas are accompanying him,” Sohel said.
Prime Minister's Political Advisor Abbas will undergo a medical check-up at Prince Court Medical Centre in Malaysia, he said, adding that arrangements with the doctors and other necessary preparations had already been completed.
Sohel said Abbas's family has asked people in the country to pray for him.
Abbas returned to Bangladesh from Malaysia on Sept 2 after receiving treatment in Singapore and Malaysia for nearly five months.
He had been receiving treatment at Prince Court Medical Centre in Malaysia after being transferred there following treatment at Singapore General Hospital. He underwent physiotherapy at the Malaysian facility before returning to Bangladesh earlier this month.
