The government has issued the gazette for its new pay scale for public servants, setting out a phased salary increase that will take full effect from July 2027.
The Ninth National Pay Scale raises salaries by 142 percent at the lowest grade and 100 percent at the highest.
The Finance Division issued the gazette on Saturday, 20 days after the government approved the new structure. It will be known as the Public Service (Pay and Allowances) Order, 2026.
The new pay structure will be implemented in phases, with the revised basic salaries taking effect from Jul 1, according to the gazette.
The government had earlier approved the structure with basic salaries rising from Tk 8,250 to Tk 20,000 at the lowest grade and from Tk 78,000 to Tk 156,000 at the highest.
Under the first phase, covering Jul 1 to Dec 31, officials in Grade 9 and above will receive 40 percent of the increase in their revised basic pay, while employees in Grades 10 to 20 will receive 50 percent of the increase.
The applicable rates will be added to the salary that the officials and employees received, or were entitled to receive, on Jun 30.
In the second phase, from Jan 1 to Jun 30, 2027, officials in Grade 9 and above will receive 70 percent of the increase in their revised basic pay, while those in Grades 10 to 20 will receive 75 percent.
The full increase in basic pay will take effect from Jul 1, 2027.
The allowances currently received by government employees along with their basic salaries will be fully implemented from Jan 1, 2028. The government had earlier announced that the new pay structure would be implemented in three phases, with allowances to be paid in full from that date.
As the new pay structure has been made effective retrospectively from Jul 1 this year, government officials and employees will also receive any salary arrears that have accrued or will accrue, according to the gazette.
The government approved the Ninth National Pay Scale on Aug 31 after years of discussions.
Under the approved structure, the lowest basic salary was raised by 142 percent, while the highest was doubled.
