হ্যালো: হাই, কি খবর, ভি?
ভি: ভালো। তুমি?
হ্যালো: আমিও ভালো। আচ্ছা তোমার নামের অর্থ কী?
ভি: আমার নাম নগুয়েন খানাহ ভি। ভি আমার ডাক নাম। নগুয়েন আমার পদবী। খানাহ মানে সুখ আর ভি ভিয়েতনামের একটা প্রাচীন শব্দ যেটার অর্থ সক্রিয়তা। এটা আমার পরিবারের স্বপ্ন যে আমি সবার জন্য আনন্দ বয়ে আনব।
কিন্তু আমার বন্ধুরা আমাকে ‘মাস্টার ভি’ বলে ডাকে। যখন আমি তাদের কাছে জানতে চেয়েছিলাম, কেন তারা আমাকে এই নামে ডাকে? তারা বলেছিল, আমি স্কুলে সব বিষয়ে ভালো তাই।
হ্যালো: আমি তোমাদের দেশ সম্পর্কে জানতে চাই।
ভি: ভিয়েতনাম ইংরেজি বর্ণ এসের মতো দেখতে। তুমি আমাদের দেশের নাম দুই উপায়ে লিখতে পার। যেমনঃ ভিয়েত নাম কিংবা ভিয়েতনাম। এই নামে দুটি শব্দ আছে, ভিয়েত ও নাম। শব্দগুলোর অর্থও ভিন্ন। ভিয়েত আমাদের পূর্বপুরুষের জাতিগত নাম এবং নাম মানে দক্ষিণ। আমাদের প্রথম পূর্বপুরুষ পুরনো নর্থ কান্ট্রি দ্বারা নিয়ন্ত্রিত হয়েছিল, তখন আমরা দক্ষিণের ছিলাম। তাই, নর্থ কান্ট্রির লোকেরা আমাদের দক্ষিণের মানুষ বলে ডাকত।
এখানে রয়েছে আধুনিক ব্যস্ত শহর, শান্ত গ্রাম ও সুন্দর পল্লী অঞ্চল। হ্যানোয়ের হা ছি মিনহ শহরে কিছু বিখ্যাত লোকগ্রাম আর হাঁটার রাস্তা আছে যেখানে বিভিন্ন দেশ থেকে বিদেশিরা ভ্রমণ করতে আসে। যদি তুমি তাজা আর শান্তিপূর্ণ বাতাস পছন্দ কর, তাহলে ভ্রমণ করতে পার পল্লী অঞ্চল দা লাত আর তায় নগুয়েনের মতো জায়গাগুলোতে। আশা করি, তোমরা এটাকে পছন্দ করবে। ভিয়েত নামে স্বাগতম।
হ্যালো: তোমাদের শ্রেণিতে কজন শিক্ষার্থী আছে?
ভি: আমাদের শ্রেণিতে ৪৪ জন আর পুরো বিদ্যালয়ে ২১০০-র বেশি শিক্ষার্থী আছে।
হ্যালো: তোমাদের কয়টি বিষয় তোমাদের পড়তে হয়?
ভি: আমাদের নয়টি বিষয় আছে। যেমনঃ সাহিত্য, ইংরেজি, গণিত, ইতিহাস, পদার্থ বিজ্ঞান, রসায়ন, চিত্রাকংন – সঙ্গীত আর নাগরিক শিক্ষা।
নাগরিক শিক্ষায় নৈতিক গুণ যেমন, সম্মান, সততা, পরার্থপরতা, নম্রতা এবং আমাদের দেশের আইন সম্পর্কে শিখি।
হ্যালো: তোমাদের শিক্ষকরা কেমন বন্ধুত্বপূর্ণ?
ভি: আমাদের শিক্ষকরা অনেক বন্ধুত্বপূর্ণ। শ্রেণিকক্ষের বাইরে, আমরা শিক্ষকদের সাথে বন্ধুর মতো কথা বলতে পারি। আমি তাদের প্রতি অনেক খুশি, কারণ তারা আমাদের সব সময় সহযোগিতা করেন। মাঝে মাঝে তারা আমাদের স্কুল শেষে খাবারের জন্যে অর্থও দেন। আমরা তাদের ভয় করি তখনি, যখন আমরা ভুল করি।
হ্যালো: তুমি তাদের ভয় কর? তারা কি তোমাদের ভুলের জন্যে শারীরিক শাস্তি দেন?
ভি: ভিয়েতনামে শিক্ষকরা শারীরিক শাস্তি দেন না। যদি আমাদের কোনো ভুল থাকে, আমাদের আত্ম সমালোচনা লিখতে হয় যেখানে অভিভাবকের সাক্ষরও আনতে হয়। অন্যথায়, শিক্ষার্থীরা আচরণ পরীক্ষায় কম নম্বর পাবে। এই নম্বর শিক্ষার্থীদের জন্যে খুবই গুরুত্বপূর্ণ।
এখনও পর্যন্ত আমি মানসিক কিংবা শারীরিক শাস্তি পাই নি। কিন্তু নয় বছরের স্কুল জীবনে আমাকে তিন বার আত্মসমালোচনা লিখতে হয়েছিল।
হ্যালো: তোমার পছন্দের শিক্ষক কে?
ভি: সবাই আমার পছন্দের শিক্ষক। কিন্তু আমার প্রিয় শিক্ষক ভিয়েট যিনি আমাদের ব্যাডমিন্ট শিক্ষক। তিনি আমাকে অলস মেয়ে থেকে সক্রিয় এবং ক্রীড়াপ্রেমী করেছেন। তিনি অনেক বন্ধুত্বপূর্ণ ঠিক আমার ভালো বন্ধুর মতো, সে এবং আমি সবসময় ক্লাসে মজা করি।
হ্যালো: তোমার প্রিয় বন্ধু কে?
ভি: ডুঅং আমার ভালো এবং প্রিয় বন্ধু। ভিয়েতনামে, ডুঅং মানে সমুদ্র বা নীল। সে আমাকে আমার ভবিষ্যতের লক্ষ্য খুঁজতে সহযোগিতা করে। সে আমার স্বপ্নকে জাগিয়ে তোলে পরিপূর্ণভাবে, সবসময় পুরোনো স্মৃতি ভাগাভাগি করে আর আমাকে অনেক বোঝে।
হ্যালো: তুমি কি আমাকে তোমাদের দেশের পরীক্ষা পদ্ধতি সম্পর্কে বিস্তারিত বলতে পারবে?
ভি: ভিয়েতনামে, আমরা তিনটি পরীক্ষা দেই। যেগুলো হচ্ছে প্রাইমারি স্কুল, জুনিয়র হাই স্কুল এবং হাই স্কুল অর্থাৎ কলেজ পরীক্ষা।
যখন শিক্ষার্থীদের বয়স ছয় বছর এবং যারা প্রথম থেকে পঞ্চম শ্রেনির শিক্ষার্থীদের, তাদের একটা ছোট পরীক্ষায় অংশ নিতে হয় প্রাইমারি স্কুলে প্রবেশ করার জন্যে। এই পরীক্ষাটি খুবই সাধারণ। কয়েকটি সহজ অংক কষা আর সহজ উওর দেওয়ার মত।
আর যারা ষষ্ঠ থেকে নবম শ্রেনিতে তারা জুনিয়র হাইস্কুল পরীক্ষায় অংশ নেয়। এখানে শিক্ষার্থীদের কিছুটা কঠিন প্রশ্নের সমাধান করতে হয়। এই পরীক্ষায় তিনটি বাধ্যতামূলক বিষয় আছে যেগুলো তাদের স্কুলে শিখতে হয়। যেমন, গণিত, ইংরেজি আর ভিয়েতনামিজ।
দশম থেকে দ্বাদশ শ্রেনিতে পড়ার জন্যে শিক্ষার্থীদের অংশ নিতে হবে হাইস্কুল কিংবা কলেজ পরীক্ষায়, যেটা তাদের সাহায্য করবে ভবিষ্যতে ভাল কাজ খুঁজে পেতে। তাই খুব সতর্কতার সাথে স্কুল নির্বাচন করতে হয়।

Vi : Great. I’m very excited about our conversation.
Hello: Me too. Oh! What is the meaning name of your nickname ‘Vi’?
Vi : My name is ‘Nguyen Khanh Vi’. Vi is my nick name. Nguyen is family name, Khanh means happy and Vi is an ancient word of Vietnam which means activity. It’s my parent’s wish for me that I’ll bring happiness everyone.
But, my friends call me Master Vi. When I wanted to know, Why do they call me that? They replied that I’m good at all subjects at school so.
Hello: I want to know about your country.
Vi: Viet Nam is a S-shapes country. You can write our country name in two ways as Viet Nam or Vietnam. In this name, here is included two words: Viet and Nam. Those words meaning are different. Viet is the name of our first ancestor ethnic. Nam means south. Our first ancestor ethnic was ruled by the old North Country, We were in the south. So the North Country’s people called us South people.
Here are busy modern cities, peaceful villages and beautiful country sides. There are some famous folk villages and walking streets in Ha Noi of Ha Chi Minh City where many foreign tourists come to visit from different countries. If you like fresh and peaceful air, you can visit the countryside like Da Lat and Tay Nguyen. Maybe you guys will love them. Welcome in Viet Nam.
Hello: Can I know about your daily life?
Vi : My daily life is very normal like most other Vietnamese students. My school starts from 7:20am to 4:30pm. We have two hours for taking lunch and rest from 11:30am to 1:30pm. After school I return to my home and help my sister with cooking dinner.
I usually do homework at 8pm. Although I try to finish my homework very soon. After finishing it I get free time. I always go to bed at 11pm or 12am. Ha ha ha.
Hello: How much students are there in your class?
Vi: There are 44 students in my class and more than 2100 in the whole school.
Hello: How many subjects do you have to read in your class?
Vi: We have nine subjects like literature, english, math, history, physics, biology, chemistry, art-music and civic education.
I am giving concept about literature and civic education. In Literature subject, we learn how to write an essay, a poem in our language etc. In Civic education, we are able to learn about worth living things like respect, honesty, selflessness, humility etc. as well as the law of my country.
Hello: How friendly are the teachers of your class?
Vi : My teachers are very friendly. Out of the class, we can talk with them like friends. I am really happy about them. Cause they help us all time. Sometimes they pay us for our after school snacks. We only become afraid of them when we have done any mistakes.
Hello: Why do you afraid of them? Do you get physical punishment for mistaking?
Vi: In Vietnam, Teachers don’t punish students physically. If a student has done a mistake, they have to write a self-criticism where we have to take signature of our parents. Otherwise, students will get low marks in conduct test. The marks are very important for students.
Still I haven’t get any mental or physical punishment. But I only had to write three self-criticism in nine years of school life.
Hello: Who is your best teacher?
Vi: All are my best teacher. But the name of my favorite teacher is Viet who is our badminton teacher. He made me an active and sports lover from an unsporty and lazy girl. He is so friendly like my best friend. I always make some fun in the class.
Hello: Who is your favorite friend?
Vi: My best and favorite friend’s name is Duong. In Vietnamese, Duong means ocean or blue. She is the one who helps me to find my future target. She wakes my dream very maturely, always shares memories and understands me a lot.
Hello: Would please explain me about the educational system of your country?
Vi: In Vietnam, We have only three examination as Primary School, Junior High School and High School or college examination.
When students are six years old who reads in grade one to five, they have to attend this a small exam to enter primary school. This exam is very simple like to solve easy math and answer simple questions. It’s called Primary School Examination.
The students who are from grade six to nine attend on junior high school exam. Here Students have to solve quite hard questions to enter junior high school. This exam has three compulsory subjects which they learn at school as math, English and Vietnamese.
For studying in grade ten to twelve, Students have to participate in High School or College examination which will lead them to get their job in the future. So They have to choose their school very carefully.
